Hey guys,
It's finally Easter time! I know it's really known for Jesus resurrecting but it's also time to eat as much chocolate as you want without feeling guilty. Usually, I would only have Easter eggs to eat, but this year I wanted to be more creative and, for once, actually do some baking. However, I'm just going to be doing some classic chocolate cupcakes and that wouldn't make out for a good blog since there is nothing interesting to it. Instead, I'm just going to be sharing the decorating part with you, which is my favourite part to baking.
Personally, I am baking my cupcakes from scratch, but there are other ways. One of the easiest ways is to just buy some plain ones from a shop, get some cupcake mix or just do what i did and make them from scratch, just a little tip, I went for a large sized cupcake case so I would be able to fit the decorations on. Also, you don't have to make chocolate cupcakes, as it can become a bit too rich.
Ingredients for decorating:
• Chocolate Icing
• Flake(s)
• Bag of Mini Eggs
• Cupcakes
Before starting, make sure the top of your cupcakes are flat so everything will balance and fit on top of the cupcakes.
Begin by slicing the flakes small enough to fit a few on top of the cupcake. I used 4 flakes in total but it depends on how many you are making and what size they will be.
Don't forgot to get a bag or two of mini eggs. It never hurts to have extras left over.
Now to the actual decorating, and because we are using icing, you'll have to do them one at a time.
Spread the icing over the top of the cupcake, then place the flakes on top. Don't stack them to high, only place what is necessary, so you can actually eat it.
Next place a small amount of icing on the side of a mini egg and place another mini egg onto the icing allowing them to stick together. Then place some more icing on the mini eggs and put it on top of the flakes. Hold them down for a couple of seconds gently so they will stay in
Do this to the rest of the cupcakes, I could only fit two but you can place as many as you like.
This is one of my completed cupcakes.
And here they all are on my cupcake stand.
I hope you enjoyed this little blog. I know it's very different from what I have recently been blogging about, but I thought it was something quite cute and fun to do, and it also fits this specific time of the year. Please let me know in the comments what you did for Easter, did you bake? Or did you stick to the classic Easter egg?
